1-4 Player Multiplayer Esports Co-op
Blackbeard is a competitive multiplayer cooperative game in which players team up to collect treasure, uncover hidden secrets, and face off against Blackbeard himself—all while competing for a top spot on the leaderboard.

Collect Treasure
Players collect treasure as they explore the island and defeat foes. Some treasures are out in the open and easy to find, but the more valuable treasures involve players exploring every nook and cranny they can find. To secure a top spot on the leaderboards, players must prioritize the high-value treasures without neglecting the easy-to-retrieve low-value treasures.

Complete Group Challenges
Blackbeard: Trials of Skull Island includes 2 challenge rounds in the middle of the game. These challenges do not require Omni movement, allowing players to catch their breath.
The first challenge requires players to retrieve treasure that appears for a limited time with a harpoon gun. Teamwork is essential. If players pursue the same treasure, they will be wasting valuable time.
The second challenge requires players to enter a combination sequence of symbols in the allotted time. Each player only has a couple fo the symbols found in the sequence, so they must work together to complete it. This challenge is particularly fun and leads to a lot of yelling and laughter.

My Role as Game Director and Producer
As the Game Director and Producer for Blackbeard: Trials of Skull Island, I was responsible for the overall vision of the project and for ensuring the product was completed within the 6-month development requirement. This was particularly difficult for this game as it was created during the COVID-19 shutdowns in Texas. We finished this game on time with a reduced team and the many difficulties that came along with the pandemic.
To accomplish this, I had to relentlessly limit the scope of the game while still allowing creative innovation that would give this game a unique identity. We relied on some fantastic asset packs on the Unreal Marketplace and tried to reuse many systems of some previous games.
