1v1 or 2v2 Competitive Multiplayer

Hardpoint is a competitive multiplayer versus game in which teams compete against each other to control the Hardpoint zones. When a team has control of a Hardpoint zone, their score increases. The team that has the highest score when the time ends wins the game. This game is featured in the Omni Arena arcade attraction, so matches are approximately 7 minutes long and are limited to 1v1 and 2v2.

Control the Hardpoint Zones

Throughout the match, the Hardpoint zones alternate between 3 separate locations around the map. Players must be quick to get to the new Hardpoint zone while approaching it strategically so as to not make themselves an easy target.

Utilize Weapon Pickups and Grenades

While this game is easy to learn, it is difficult to master a great strategy with your teammate. It is crucial to utilize the weapon pickups around the map and to know when to use a grenade. These weapons can be used to force enemy players out of a highly defensible position and into a vulnerable location for an easy elimination.

My Role as Game Director and Producer

As the Game Director and Producer for Hardpoint, I was responsible for the overall vision of the project and for completing it within the required time. This project was completed over a two-year time period with a team of 5 developers and was developed in conjunction with Core Defense. This game was the team's first attempt at competitive player-versus-player multiplayer, so a lot of development was devoted to balancing the competition and the different strategies in the game. The biggest challenge that we faced was player feedback. We learned that if we wanted to communicate something to the players, we had to do it in several different ways. We had to add visual feedback, feedback through sound effects, and feedback through voice-overs before we were confident that most players would receive the information.
