Over 20 Virtual Reality Games

Omniverse is an online content platform for commercial VR arcades. Arcade owners can install any of the 20 available games on the platform and sell game time to customers. Customers purchase an amount of time to play games on the system and then have access to all available games for the set time.

VR Launcher for Players

Players have access to the VR Launcher to choose the game they want to play. At any time during their game session, players can return to the VR Launcher and launch a new game. Players can also call for help, extend their game session, or log into their account through this interface.

Online Management System for Operators

Omniverse includes an Online Management System in the backend that allows operators to manage their Omniverse systems from one remote location. Operators can also look at various statistics and analytics for their location.

My Role as Content Director

As the Content Director for Omniverse, I was responsible for getting games published onto the Omniverse platform. This responsibility consisted of directing the first-party game development team in developing first-party content, as well as working with third-party developers to get their games published.

The process to get a game published on the platform included the following:

  1. Initiate a phone call with the developer to explain the publishing process and convince them to make a version of their game for the platform.

  2. Provide the Omni hardware and software development kit (with design requirements) to the developer.

  3. Receive an initial build of the game and provide feedback on what changes would make the game successful on the platform.

  4. Perform QA on subsequent builds until the game is ready to be released.

  5. Add the game in the backend and release it to all arcade locations.

The biggest challenge with this project was getting developers to meet the quality standard that we set for the platform. Since these games were being played in commercial locations, there were some requirements that were different from a normal consumer game. These changes made this process of working with developers much more difficult, because it wasn't just a simple port of their existing game.

We also found that some operators did not use the recommended procedures when operating the system. This led to many issues and ultimately led us to create the Omni Arena system which was a far more curated user experience that built the recommended procedures into the operation. This ensured that no matter who was operating the system, the customer would have the best experience possible.
